I had a blog post composed and ready to go, to introduce my next written series and workshops on the topic of resilience.

But before I post that series I have to share the following:

For my black readers here in the USA: I am so sorry for your pain. All of it. All the generations of it. You have my support.

For my white readers here in the USA: If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the protests, questioning why there is so much anger and/or unsure what to do:

1) Reach out to your black friends and let them know they have your support.
2) DO NOT ask your black friends to educate you on race issues here in the US. Take responsibility for your own education.
3) At the very least add some of the activists listed in the resources below to your social media feeds.
4) Watch some of the movies and/or read some of the articles and books listed. LISTEN without adding commentary. Donate. Engage. Amplify. You will get it wrong sometimes, get checked and have to apologize to the black people you offend. Do it anyway.
5) Talk to your white friends about the importance of being actively anti-racist. You will be scared at least some of the time. You will offend your racist white friends and family. Do it anyway. The USA’s future peace and prosperity depend on it.

For a perspective of what it’s like to be a black woman in America today check out my friend Cheryl Inokon’s post detailing exactly that.

If you are running a business and wish to make it diverse and inclusive and equitable, please contact my friend Stacy Parson. She has many years’ experience working with companies and executive leaders in this arena. and will guide you with exquisite skill.

For my readers outside the USA: The above resources will help frame the current unrest in a historical perspective and show how pervasive racism is across all US institutions and US society. This is not anything that we are typically taught in school outside (or inside) the US.

The series on resilience will begin in a couple of days.
